Heritage Quilt

This is the unfinished group block by the Castle Quilters. I may not get to photograph the finished block as I will be in SAN Fran next week. The girls will have to add a boat and some fishermen as the title is Fishing.

Connecting art to stitch by sandra Meech.

Connecting art to stitch is a wonderful book written to help people who are confident with their stitch techniques but want to learn more about basic art and design skills. The book is easy to follow as each technic is set out with simple exercises. The fifteen "Art Classes" explore topics such as simple sketching, working with acrylics, mixed media approaches including collage, painting on fabric working with disperse dyes, photography and image transfer. Of course this book is no good sitting on a shelf in your work room, so I plan to give each excerise a go. Watch this space.

Three Irish Dancers

Here is my finished piece for the Heritage Quilt being donated by the Western Branch of the Irish Patchwork Society, to the Museum in Galway. My 9" x 6" block was on Dance. I fused everything on to the background, I'm not sure yet if I should add some stitching.

It's cold outside

I love that song, but I don't like the cold. A New year, two weeks off work and I still can't get into my work room. I did manage to tidy it up a little as it turns into a dump room during Christmas. My garden is now an ice rink, but I have no intendsion of skating on it. I do have some great photo's I will post later. I find I spend more time reading other blogs, rather than writing my own so maybe this year I will try to make mine more interesting.
